H1N1 Virus Update

The flu season is here again this year and so is the H1N1 flu virus. There are a few simple steps that can help to protect you and others from the flu virus. Wash your hand often with warm water and soap for 20 seconds, or use an alcohol based hand sanitizer. When coughing, cough into your arm not your hand. Disinfect commonly used surfaces on a regular bases. Stay at home if you are experiencing flu like symptoms and contact a health care provider if your symptoms worsen.

By following the information put forward by the Canadian Dental Association, our office has established policies and infection control practices to try to help prevent the spread of this illness and offer a safe environment for our patients and staff.

When calling to remind patients of their appointments our staff will enquire if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms. In order to assist us in creating this safe environment we ask that if you are displaying flu like symptoms, fever, body aches, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, you would reschedule your appointment for a week from its scheduled date.

If you have flu like symptoms and require emergency dental treatment please call our office prior to your appointment, and inform the front desk receptionist. She will speak with the doctor to make arrangements for your treatment.
